For euthanasia of chronically ill, injured or old horses.  Though our wish is to find a home for every horse, it must be understood that if a horse is chronically ill or injured beyond rehabilitation, the horse should be humanely euthanised.  This is the most humane way to allow a horse to pass peacefully and with dignity.  The same is true for older horses whose only choices are to live a life of neglect now that their ‘useful years’ have passed or face the fate of going to slaughter.  We dream of the day when we will be able to offer a retirement facility for these horses who have given so much in their lives, to allow them to live out their final years peacefully, but we are not able to accomplish this at this time.  Until we can, their best choice is humane euthanasia.
